Angelina Ballerina is a character-driven drama that is based on the enormously successful series of children's by author Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig. Angelina Ballerina follows the adventures of a remarkable littler mouse who dreams of becoming a prima ballerina. It captures both the joys and frustrations of growing up. For 'real life' is not a perfect ballet, and the steps are often confusing.
Angelina is a headstrong character who drives the series and it is through Angelina's eyes that we see the world, and through her choices that our young audience can allow grow and learn.
Making friends and being a friend are not easy tasks for all children. Preschoolers need opportunities to play with children their own age in order to learn how to make friends, how to cooperate and how to get along with others.
The goals of this program are to model appropriate social behaviors and show children that they like Angelina can:
- Learn that they can make friends
- Know that it takes time to discover likes and interests of new friends
- Practice social skills-good manners, cooperation, taking turns, being kind
- Know that there are many things friends can do together-play, share, talk, listen and work
- Learn that friends help each other
- Practice being a friend
- Learn that friends can be girls or boys
- Discover how much fun it is to make a new friend
