Hugh Morton Memorial Service

Hugh MortonRecipient of a 2003 John Tyler Caldwell Award for the Humanities, the North Carolina Humanities Council's highest honor, Morton's legacy of public service, conservation efforts and journalistic legends are detailed in this first-person documentary. Morton was instrumental in bringing the USS North Carolina to Wilmington, spearheaded efforts to save the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and remains a major force in the fight for clean air. From the mountains to the coast, Hugh Morton was a friend and tireless promoter of North Carolina. North Carolina celebrates Morton's memorial service at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro in this televised event honoring a man who gave his life to protecting the state's resources.
