Education in Chapel Hill. The symposium will focus on the effects on children whose
parents are incarcerated and how the community can assist them.

Airborne Division Museum Profile--Kelly McCullen treks to Fort
Bragg to visit the 82nd Airborne Division Museum which follows the
history of the 82nd Division from World War I to present. It captures
its conversion to an Airborne Division and tells that story from 1942 to
present. The museum has an airpark with seven aircraft from a UH-1 Huey

Yeoman First Class (YN1) Brandon Anderson/Navy Recruiting District Raleigh Sailor of the Year--Yeoman First Class Brandon Anderson will talk about his selection as the Navy Recruiting District Raleigh Sailor of the Year. The honor is based on his efforts in assisting the next generation of Sailors through upholding the U.S. Navy's time honored values and principles. in addition, the Henderson, North Carolina native has claimed the title of Navy Recruiting District Support Sailor of the Year for his outstanding support of Sailors throughout his district. Yeoman Anderson has also received other military accolades, a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and a Lone Sailor Statue.

talk about the Senior Helpers' Stay At Home Score quiz, that consists of
eight questions adult children answer to help determine whether their
parents can live independently in their own home.

Taylor, Chris Kirkham, and Brandy Stearns/Interactive Media Graduate
Students, Elon University--Ms. Taylor, Mr. Kirkham and Ms.
Stearns are part of a nine member graduate team from Elon University who
are working on a website dedicated to preserving the language and
culture of the Boruca indigenous tribe of Costa Rica. The group of
Interactive Media graduate students traveled to Boruca, Costa Rica for
10 days to document village life, language, ancient legends and
traditional handicraft processes. They also collected more than 15
hours of video footage, 2,000 photos and extensive interviews about the
Boruca tribes culture and challenges that will be featured in social
media.

FCS/Money Management--Sonya Williams Harris
takes us to a free workshop offered through the North Carolina
Cooperative Extension offices that helps consumers manage their money
more efficiently and avoid going into debt. (Wake

FCS/E-Conservation--Sonya introduces us to E-Conservation, a statewide program designed to teach
consumers how to make their homes more energy efficient while saving

FCS/Expanded Food
Nutrition Education Program--Sonya introduces us to the
Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program. The initiative focuses on
weight and health concerns by providing nutrition classes for families
with limited resources and youth. (Lenoir Co.)
FCS/Grandparents Raising Grandkids--Sonya
Williams Harris travels to Robeson County to
meet participants
of the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support group. More than
89,000 grandparents in North Carolina face the job of raising their
