MEDIA ADVISORY
UNC-TV's transmitter in Concord, which provides over-the-air analog and digital television in the Charlotte area on station WUNG, has resumed broadcasting its digital signal after being knocked off the air by lightning late Saturday night. UNC-TV hopes to have the analog service back on the air early in the coming week.
The strike caused a fire at the station's transmitter facility which was contained in one room and quickly extinguished. No one was injured in the incident. UNC-TV viewers in the Charlotte area who are served by Time Warner Cable did not lose access to service because the cable provider has a fiber connection with UNC-TV that does not depend on an over-the-air signal.
