James O. Treadaway, Jr., Appointed to UNC-TV Board of Trustees

The University of North Carolina Board of Governors has appointed James O. Treadaway, Jr., of Newton, North Carolina, to the UNC-TV Board of Trustees.  The partial term runs through June 30, 2010.        Mr. Treadaway served previously on the board as an appointee of the Speaker of the House from October 2003 through June 2007.

Mr. Treadaway is executive director of Hickory Mart Shows, Inc., in Hickory, North Carolina.  Hickory Mart Shows has produced trade and consumer shows for nearly 30 years.  Mr. Treadaway lives in Newton with his wife Laura and their son, James O. Treadaway, III.“

Well known for his volunteer work throughout the region and the state, Mr. Treadaway has been a recipient of The Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award and in 2001 was selected Young Alumnus of the Year by Lenoir-Rhyne College, from which he graduated in 1992.

He has been a governor’s appointee to the North Carolina Museum of Art Board of Trustees and has chaired both the Catawba Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Catawba County Council for the Arts.  He also has served on the boards of the Catawba County Hospitality and Tourism Alliance and the Catawba County Council on Adolescents, as well as the Shuford YMCA Board of Managers.
