UNC-TV Begins the Year with Public Affairs Coverage
As Richard Burr moves from the US House to the Senate, and Governor Mike Easley returns to his office, both men face daunting challenges during the next four years. In January, UNC-TV highlights their achievements and goals in two new specials leading up to a month of legislative coverage.
On Friday, January 14, at 10 PM, in Mike Easley: The Second Term, North Carolina Now correspondent Christine Rogers talks with Governor Easley about what lies ahead for North Carolina's economy, schools and healthcare, in addition to his priorities for the General Assembly this year.
Then, at 10:30 PM, join Legislative Week in Review correspondent Tim Crowley for The Next Senator. Crowley and Senator-elect Burr discuss how such national issues as the economy and Iraq war are likely to affect North Carolina citizens over the next four years.
Saturday, January 15, starting at 11 AM UNC-TV brings North Carolina live coverage of the Gubernatorial Inauguration. Join Shannon Vickery and other North Carolina Now correspondents for Governor Michael Easley's swearing-in ceremony, followed by a festive inaugural parade through downtown Raleigh.
Wednesday, January 26, New Year's resolutions will be bandied about the North Carolina Senate and House as members of the General Assembly reconvene to tackle this year's issues. Join UNC-TV at 8 PM for The North Carolina General Assembly: Opening Day Highlights 2005 to find out what is first on the agenda for the North Carolina Legislature. Friday, January 28, at 7:30 PM, North Carolina Now Legislative Review kicks off its season of weekly behind-the-scenes coverage of legislative meetings and debates, and later that evening, Legislative Week in Review begins its new season at 10 PM.
