Roy WilliamsUNC Basketball Coach Roy Williams Shares His Book, Hard Work
On UNC-TV’s North Carolina Bookwatch,
Sunday, January 10, at 5 PM

Coach Roy Williams, one of the most respected, successful, and dominant basketball coaches in the nation, had an unlikely rise to the Hall of Fame and a career that boasts the highest winning percentage among all active college coaches. In his new book Hard Work: My Life on and Off the Court, for the first time Williams tells the story of his life that few people know, from his turbulent family life as a child to the North Carolina Tar Heels' National Championship victory in 2009.

In the season finale of UNC-TV’s statewide literary series, North Carolina Bookwatch, with D.G. Martin, premiering Sunday, January 10, at 5 PM, Coach Williams speaks candidly of his past, his passions, his inspirations, and the coaching philosophy behind one of college basketball's most successful programs. Williams also recounts the determination that took him from a small home in the mountains of North Carolina to the very pinnacle of coaching success.

Currently the head coach of the UNC Tar Heels Men’s Basketball team, Roy Williams has won two NCAA Championships with the Tar Heels and brought his teams (both UNC and Kansas) to seven Final Fours. Inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2007, he ranks first in the country in winning percentages among active coaches. Born in Asheville, North Carolina, he rose from Assistant Coach at UNC to Head Coach at Kansas, where he coached the Jayhawks for fifteen years before returning to North Carolina in 2004. During his career, he has coached nineteen first-round NBA draft picks, four National Players of the Year, thirteen first-team All-Americas, and seven conference Players of the Year.

Don’t miss D.G. Martin’s all-new interview with Coach Roy Williams on North Carolina Bookwatch, Sunday, January 10, at 5 PM, only on UNC-TV!
