More Waterway Tales, Earline heath King & High Point Presbyterian Home Band Launch Season
UNC-TV’S EMMY® WINNING OUR STATE LAUNCHES ALL-NEW FOURTH SEASON!
Premieres Thursday, May 1, at 8 PM

As Our State magazine celebrates its 75th anniversary, UNC-TV’s Emmy® Award winning on-air magazine Our State kicks off its fourth season premiere—Thursday, May 1, at 8 PM—with a new adventure down the Intracoastal Waterway hosted by Bland Simpson. Stops include Oriental, the “Sailing Capital of North Carolina,” historic Beaufort and Belhaven, the pristine beaches and estuaries of Hammocks Beach State Park, as well as the Alligator and Pungo rivers.

Several artists and performers also number among this season’s features. Sculptor Earline heath (sic) King remains inspiringly productive at the age of 94. The Paperhand Puppet Intervention’s innovative creators share their inspiration. Noyes Capehart offers a provocative combination of painting and storytelling. Other highlights include the surprising music of the High Point Presbyterian Home Band, a visit with Grammy® winners Doc Watson and David Holt, along with a performance by David and his band The Lightning Bolts.

Trips to family-owned operations feature flower farming in Edgecombe County, a waterfowl conservation organization in Scotland Neck and a sixth-generation dairy in Guilford County.

Our State always spotlights the scenic and historic. Visit the newest State Park at Chimney Rock. Take forays through Nags Head Wood, Jockey’s Ridge and Cliffs of the Neuse State Parks. Climb aboard and explore treasures of the USS North Carolina. Discover homes of historic proportions including Tryon Palace, Hope Plantation, Chinqua-Penn and Harper House.

Each week, compelling stories, stunning digital videography and thoughtful narration take you beneath the surface, providing answers to the hows and whys of all things Our State. After the first Thursday in the month, the remaining Thursday nights, at 8, encore episodes feature more of the people and places that make our state great.
