Antiques Roadshow Raleigh: Behind the Scenes

Antiques Roadshow Raleigh: Behind the ScenesAntiques Roadshow kicked off its 14th season in Raleigh, North Carolina where a set of four carved jade objects from China's Quianlong period (1736-1795) earned the highest appraisal in the show's history—estimated to be worth $710,000-$1,070,000!

And in an absolute exclusive for UNC-TV viewers, Rob Holliday goes behind-the-scenes in Raleigh to show you what goes in to making these enlightening and entertaining extravaganzas during Antiques Roadshow Raleigh: Behind the Scenes.

Discover how it all comes together and what makes for a good find. Hear from hopeful neighbors, Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker and Antiques Roadshow Executive Producer Marsha Bemko, her staff and the series’ stars. Host Mark Walberg (and his mom Diane, who made the road trip from her home in South Carolina) and appraisers Kathleen Bailey, J. Michael Flanigan, Leslie Keno, Gary Sohmers and Asheville native Andrew Brunk share their thoughts on what makes the show so special. In addition, appraiser James Callahan discusses his reaction to “discovering” Jinx Taylor’s million dollars worth of jade. Holliday also tags along with the crew for trips outside the Convention Center to learn about Thomas Day furniture at the North Carolina Museum of History, Vollis Simpson and his outsider art Whirligigs in Lucama and the Fayetteville Arsenal.

In addition to Raleigh, Antiques Roadshow’s nationwide tour also includes a season full of treasures from Atlantic City, Madison, Denver, Phoenix and San Jose.
