Continued....
The changes in our over-the-air lineup of digital channels were necessary to make it possible to broadcast UNC-TV as a high-definition service. As a result, UNC-NC will now also be on the air 24 hours a day, with no blackout between 8:00 and 11:00 p.m. (Previously, it was necessary to black out UNC-NC and UNC-ED in order to broadcast UNC-HD during that three-hour period.)
We made these changes so that our primary channel, UNC-TV, can be broadcast in high definition. We believe this is a major improvement in service to the people of North Carolina, especially considering the upcoming federally-mandated shutoff of analog television service in February 2009. It is possible that as we work our way through this transition into an all-digital era, there may be other adjustments to our services that become necessary. We will make every effort to communicate with you about these changes before they occur, and more importantly, to listen to the guidance we receive from our viewers regarding what kinds of programming and services they would prefer to receive. In fact, if you wish to share your thoughts with us regarding what you would like to see on our channels, click on this link (url will go here) to give us your comments.
Completing the transition from the era of analog to digital television will involve some challenges for all of us, and we ask for your patience as we work to provide you with the best possible service during this historic change.
