If you missed going to the North Carolina Museum of Art's exhibition celebrating the anniversary of powered flight, you'll have a chance to view it on television. UNC-TV gives North Carolina a sample of the exhibit in Defying Gravity: A Tribute to Flight, a North Carolina Now Special. Hosted by North Carolina Now correspondent Christine Rogers, this half hour special not only reveals some of what the visitor will find at the exhibit-collections of photographs, artifacts, paintings, sculpture and videos-but it also focuses on some of the exhibit's most thought-provoking material. Among the prized pieces is a statue of a modern day St. Sebastian-a Tuskegee airman pierced by airplanes rather than arrows-created by a New York artist killed in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
