The year 2005 brings to public television two compelling, historical documentary series on episodes in world history that reveal much about human nature and the human condition: Slavery and the Making of America and Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State. In this live edition of High School Assembly with viewer call-in, students and teachers talk with one of the producers of the series on slavery, a Holocaust survivor, and North Carolina historians to better understand the intended messages and themes of these two programs and how to talk about these historical events. For more information on both programs, visit www.slaveryinamera.org or pbs.org/auschwitz.
