| Your 60s Experience | Do You Have a Sixties Story to Tell? | |||||||||||||||||||

The sixties—an era of “sex, drugs and rock ‘n' roll.” Few times in American history were more volatile—or revolutionary—than the 1960s. Civil rights, Woodstock and the Vietnam War consumed our culture and launched some of the most violent and determined protests the nation had ever seen. Adding to the chaos, the nation lost a charismatic and well-loved President when an assassin's bullet ended the life of John F. Kennedy. In honor of “Sixties Week” September 26-29, UNC-TV is launching a Web site to paint a picture of the 1960s in North Carolina. Reflecting some of the special features that North Carolina Now, Black Issues Forum and North Carolina People are presenting that week, the Sixties in North Carolina Web site will contain histories, biographies and timelines. In addition, we would like to add a personal flavor to the site, reflecting the experiences of the state's citizens. Were you involved in a protest? Did you attend Woodstock? Do you remember being affected by President Kennedy's assassination? If you have personal stories to tell about these or other events, we'd like to hear from you. Send your story by filling out the form below.
