Permanent Positions:

Director of Finance and Administration
UNC-TV, located in RTP, NC, is seeking an experienced yet motivating and future-focused Director of Finance and Administration to provide principal leadership in identifying financial strategies and an efficient business administrative structure to enable UNC-TV to utilize resources wisely. The Director of Finance and Administration has the authority and the responsibility for implementing UNC-TV’s budgetary long-range strategic plan objectives, and for providing leadership and direction to employees and senior leadership. This position exercises substantial independent decision making with regard to management and allocation of resources, oversees a team of accountants and individual contributors, and is a member of the UNC-TV senior management team.

Minimum requirements include a related Master’s degree and a minimum of three years professional-level experience in managing the budget of a large organization and/or providing business case guidance to senior leadership in a non-profit, higher education, or highly regulated setting, including at least one year directing an organization-wide budget; or a Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, management, or related fields and five to seven years of related professional-level experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

Major Gifts Officer
The UNC Center for Public Television (UNC-TV) is seeking a highly motivated, team-driven, and goal-oriented Major Gifts Officer to generate financial support through the stewardship and cultivation of current major donors as well as prospecting current members to begin supporting UNC-TV in a larger capacity. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and strong organizational skills and have a basic understanding of public broadcasting. Evening and weekend work is required.

Minimum requirements include an undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, liberal arts, or a related field and at least five years directly related experience in fundraising, member/donor services. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Fall 2017 Internships (Unpaid/For Credit):

 

Archival Content Internship
UNC-TV seeks an Archival Content intern to inventory and maintain UNC-TV archival moving image collections in multiple videotape formats as a part of efforts to digitally preserve its historic broadcast archive. Duties include encoding A/V materials for multiple platforms through the Dalet media asset management (MAM) system, entering metadata including content description, preservation and arrangement of archival media, as well as maintenance of archival show footage records. Duties may also include maintaining local database of Excel records, and potentially merging records into ENPS, ProTrack, and other UNC-TV/PBS database systems.

Hours of the position may vary, but are most likely to fall within a Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame.

Audience Services Account/Data Internship
UNC-TV seeks a detail-oriented, data-driven, thorough individual to assist with account management in our audience services division. This role requires a high-level of accuracy and observation. Experience working in databases and spreadsheets is required. Duties include account cleanup, making address corrections, editing account information and working on various data projects with the audience services team.

Hours of the position will vary, but will fall during the Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame.

Kids and Education Community Engagement Internship
The Kids and Education Engagement Intern will support the Kids Media and Education Team with its work in the community, related to a variety of initiatives and events. Responsibilities consist of organizing information and preparing documents and resources for meetings, events, productions and interactive learning experiences throughout the state.

Hours of the position may vary depending on the Kids & Ed Community Engagement schedule, but are most likely to fall within the Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame.

Marketing Project Management and Reporting Internship
UNC-TV seeks an organized, thoughtful, digitally-savvy, marketing mind to join our marketing communications department. This role has a very high degree of responsibility and visibility, and requires abilities in multiple areas, including marketing analysis, organization, presentation and report creation, and relationship management. Duties include but are not limited to: tracking and reporting on departmental projects, compiling reports and presentations, and serving as a go-to resource for project reporting for the marketing communications department. 

Hours of the position may vary depending on the marketing communications schedule, but are most likely to fall within the Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame.

Production Assistant Internship
The producer's assistant intern is a valuable team member who will handle multiple tasks and projects for content producers. The intern may be asked to aid more than one producer on the team or rotate between several as needed. Duties can include, but are not limited to: researching potential story ideas and guests, logging footage from field and studio shoots, reviewing emails/voicemails sent to the team and consulting with producers on how to respond, accompanying producers on field shoots, editing footage for broadcast and archival use, inputting metadata information for program and footage archives, and preparing/posting social media content.

Hours of the position may vary depending on the production schedule, but are most likely to fall within the Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame.

Production Partnership and Business Development Internship
This intern will work with the Director of Production Partnerships and Business Development, the contracts administrator, grants officer and UNC-TV's administrative and financial staff to learn the business side of original content production. The intern will assist the Director of Production Partnerships and Business Development in doing market research on potential production partners and revenue opportunities for UNC-TV's production services. This intern will assist the contract administrator with organizing the content department's paper contract archives and other business reporting needs. This intern will job shadow members of UNC-TV's finance and administrative unit to understand the overall business workflow of UNC-TV. This intern will also be provided the opportunity to assist with some studio and field production work in order to see how UNC-TV's business practices translate into overall successful productions.

Hours of the position may vary depending on the production schedule, but are most likely to fall within the Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame.

Studio Production Internship
The UNC-TV Production Services department seeks interns to assist in day-to-day operations of broadcast studio productions. Duties include studio camera operation, floor directing and teleprompter operation. Working with veteran broadcast professionals, this internship can also provide training and opportunities in various other areas of studio production, field production (including TriCaster, ENG or 50’ expanded mobile unit), post production or archiving. 

Hours fall within the Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame most often. Prefer candidates who can work eight-hour daily shifts at least two days a week; days of the week can vary depending upon candidate availability and positions still available.
