Stories From Viewers:

I have lived with HIV going on 11 years now. Five years ago, I gave birth to a negative son. I give credit to Duke Infectious Disease Clinic and my non-judgemental GYN Doctor. The town I live in does not know about my status. I moved here from another small town that knew and they ostrasized me. Their were leaks at the hospital lab and that was how a lot of the locals found out about me. So about three years ago, I moved to the city I am at now and started over. Because of past experiences I am too afraid of the consequences that may take place, should I disclose. It makes my life very lonely at times. I am now a full time student trying to get my bachelors degree in social work. I want to use my degree to help abandoned, abused and orphaned children with the disease. I see this as my way of taking something bad that happened to me and turning it around for good. - S.H.
