  Chinese-American history in North Carolina:

Chinese soldiers in the Civil War
Gordon Kwok, a Chinese American who has written several essays on American Civil War history, discovered through his research that several Civil War soldiers were possibly Chinese American. He collected a list of soldiers from various states, including North Carolina, who had last names that were typically Chinese. Unfortunately he cannot verify at this time whether or not all of them are Chinese but planned to do further research to confirm each individual. His Web site, the Association to Commemorate the Chinese Serving in the American Civil War, is at http://hometown.aol.com/gordonkwok/accsacw.html.
