The son of North Carolina governor and U.S. Senator Kerr Scott, Bob Scott was surrounded by a family with a passion for public service that would forever impact his life. In 1965, this son of a former governor ran for and won the seat as North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor. The office quickly became a stepping-stone to the governor’s mansion and Bob Scott followed in his father’s footsteps as North Carolina’s governor in 1969.
