UNC Board of Governors Appoints Jack Clayton to the UNC-TV Board of Trustees

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK—At its meeting on Friday, July 29, the University of North Carolina Board of Governors appointed Jack Clayton to the UNC-TV Board of Trustees for a four-year term, which will run through June 30, 2020.

As executive vice president and regional president for Wells Fargo’s Piedmont East Community Banking, which includes 57 counties in the Triad, Triangle, and Eastern North Carolina, Clayton leads the bank’s broad sales, service, and growth strategies for retail and small business banking in the region. He is also responsible for community involvement activities across Piedmont East.

Before assuming his Piedmont East role in 2009, Clayton was with Wachovia, most recently in Raleigh, where he ran Commercial, Real Estate, Business Banking, and Retail for the Triangle. He also led the corporate training program and, for a number of years, held leadership roles in the International Division, where he managed the Latin American Group and the U.S. and Canadian Group, served as general manager of the New York office, and was operations manager in Charlotte and Winston-Salem.

Clayton earned a bachelor of arts in economics from Wake Forest University, a master’s in business administration from UNC Chapel Hill, and completed a post-graduate degree at NYU. He has also studied at UBS in Switzerland, Duke University, and Harvard University.

Clayton is active in his church and community, where he focuses on community and economic development, youth, and education. In addition to his advisory role on the UNC-TV Board of Trustees, Clayton also currently serves on the boards of the Triangle Land Conservancy and the Triangle YMCA's Capital Campaign. He has been recognized as the Triangle CEO of the Year by the Triangle Business Journal and as a Silver Beaver by the Boy Scouts of America.

Brian Sickora, executive director and general manager of UNC-TV, shared his enthusiasm for this newest appointment to the UNC-TV Board of Trustees, saying, “UNC-TV welcomes Jack Clayton to its Board of Trustees and looks forward to benefiting from his unparalleled commitment to our mission, as well as his years of financial expertise. His well-demonstrated commitment to his community, through years of involvement in a broad array of groups and organizations that share UNC-TV’s mission of engagement and involvement, will prove immediately beneficial to our work for the state’s citizens.”
