The goal of this two-part webinar is to raise awareness of free standards-based media resources for the classroom available for K-20 teachers from public television and other trusted sources that enhance teaching and learning and integrate technology into the classroom.

Part 1 (2 hours) Objectives:

  • To learn about Teachers’ Domain standards-based media resources in science, language arts, history, math and performing arts.
  • To learn site-navigation and where to access NC state standards correlation.
  • To become familiar with teacher-friendly tools such as “My Folders” and “My Groups.”
  • To discover professional development tools and resources available from the National Science Digital Library, as well as online professional development courses from Teachers’ Domain and PBS TeacherLine.
  • To engage in an interactive hands-on activity on the web.


Part 2 (I hour) Objectives:

  • To analyze specific Teachers’ Domain science resources from a critical perspective and determine their learning goals, content alignment, sophistication and quality of instructional support for teachers.
  • Engage in a dialog of constructive criticism of how these specific resources address learning goals, and how to put them into context in a classroom setting.
  • To review a digital resource noting specific guidelines discussed.


Teachers will walk away from this two part, three hour webinar with a solid understanding of Teachers’ Domain standards-based media resources and professional development tools from the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) that can be implemented to enhance K-20 curriculum's and engage visual learners using media and technology in the classroom.

Teachers seeking CEU credit will need to have this any ETI workshop preapproved by your district.  A certificate of completion will be provided.

Teachers' Domain is an online educational service with two related components -- resource collections and professional development courses -- that help teachers facilitate student learning and advance their own teaching skills, ways to inspire students, broaden content knowledge, and integrate technology into their classrooms. Each Teachers' Domain online course features outstanding digital media from NOVA and other PBS programming, and course pedagogy is driven by inquiry and exploration.
