University Awards

Every year since 1980, the University of North Carolina's Board of Governors presents its highest honor, the University Award. This annual award highlights the outstanding contributions individuals make to higher education.

2007 marked the inaugural year for an additional University award: the UNC Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Public Service. This new annual award was created to encourage, identify, recognize, and reward distinguished public service and outreach by faculty across the University.
