AMERICAN EXPERIENCE/THE PRINCIPAL STORY/
COUNTDOWN TO KINDERGARTEN
Saturday, September 12, at 10 AM
Diane Lucas, UNC-TV's Director of Programming & Outreach, explores current issues with educators and policymakers from around the state. This edition examines new principal evaluation standards through a panel discussion featuring David Mrazek, producer of The Principal Story (airing on P.O.V. Tuesday, September 22, at 10 PM), Dr. Stephen Greene of the state Department of Public Instruction and Dr. Jay Jones, principal of Winston-Salem’s Konnoak Elementary. Education Forum also addresses kindergarten readiness and how the award-winning public television series American Experience extends to UNC-TV’s online teachers' area—a resource featuring an array of history, civics, and other social studies resources for the classroom.

WORKFORCE LITERACY AND FINANCIAL LITERACY
Saturday, May 2, at 9 AM
With North Carolina’s unemployment rate nearing double digits, the next edition of Education Forum, Saturday, May 2, at 9 AM, promises timely insights and innovative tools to navigate and adapt to new economic realities. Host Diane Lucas leads a panel of experts--including instructors and professors in higher education, community leaders and practitioners--in a discussion centering on such topics as work-related learning--the skills needed to get or retain a job--and financial literacy, a lifelong process of academic and practical components for assessing the right short-, medium- and long-term financial strategies.
