Citizenship, 9-11, and Character Education
Original Broadcast Date:
Saturday, September 14, 10 am

Some of the values promoted within character education are respect, responsibility, integrity and compassion. The attack on the World Trade Center brought to surface the need to continually further dialog and cultural understanding. So at this time of year--the anniversary of the attacks--it is fitting that while there is reflection and remembrance of the tragedy, we take the opportunity to talk about increasing cultural understanding which breeds character in all of us. The better we understand one another, the more clearly we can see that we all have some commonalities when it comes to the question of "what builds positive character"? Please join us for a discussion that will help schools and families share ways of building character in each of us.

For more information and resources on character education, visit the North Carolina Center for Character Education. It's something that teachers are being encouraged to weave into their curriculum, and it's something that parents can weave into home life.
