From two grants from the National Center for Outreach, UNC-TV's Ready To Earn initiative hosts a Health Literacy Leadership Summit and EdForum kicking off a series of six regional workshops across the state. Featured speakers are Pat Bush, past President of the North Carolina Literacy Association, Dr. Darren DeWalt of UNC Hospitals and noted researcher in the field, and Gilda Rubio-Festa, Director of ESOL at Piedmont Community College in Charlotte and head of the state's largest multilingual program for teaching English to newcomers.
