Latino Health Literacy and Workplace Safety
UNC-TV is conducting three regional workshops on Latino Health Literacy and Workplace Safety in partnership with local and state community health agencies, community colleges and the NC Dept. of Labor, along with local councils of the NC Literacy Association and the NC Reading Association. Issues of importance are identified by the attendees in the various areas of health, safety, fitness and communication, while helpful pathways and resources are showcased in the effort of finding solutions to challenges and issues.
The first workshop took place in the western NC region at Asheville Crown Plaza Hotel in conjunction with the National Rural Health Association Conference on Oct. 30. The second regional workshop is Nov. 30 in the Triad at the Randolph Latino Coalition Center in Asheboro, with the third regional workshop happening
at the Brunswick Hispanic Educational Assistance Center/ Brunwick Community College in Supply, NC on Dec. 2, 2006. The workshops are funded in part from a grant from the National Center for Outreach (NCO.)
