Outreach at UNC-TV is designed to extend the impact of our programming by making resources accessible through partnerships and serving targeted communities. It is a service to the community that provides meaningful dialogue, educational resources and community building through communication and training.
There are three major educational outreach efforts at UNC-TV at present. They are the Ready To Learn Project and the Ready to Earn Project and the " Bridges to Diversity " Project.
Three years ago, UNC-TV was selected to be one of the five national partners in the Television Race Initiative. This project is a multi-year project in which diverse, character driven, high profile television broadcasts create a backdrop for sustained community dialogue and problem solving around the issue of race relations. By partnering with the Television Race Initiative, UNC-TV will work to foster on-going collaborations among community leaders doing similar work throughout North Carolina. " Bridges to Diversity" uses storytelling--initially in the form of several public television broadcasts--"to break the ice" and encourage essential conversations that lead to constructive action.
UNC-TV uses provocative and forward looking television programming about diversity to generate productive discussion among key community leaders.
