Hines:
The teachers will now share their finished products.  You can extend the learning by creating such songs as “The Ten Little Lions” and other songs.

F:
Let’s start with our sorting group, I mean our math group.  Tell us what you did.

[INAUDIBLE COMMENTS]

F:
Start off with the box.

F:
This is our sorting box.  The animals, one, two, three, up to five ____.  Okay.  And these are sorting animals.

F:
Let me help you out a little bit.

F:
The monkey goes up to five.

F:
Is there a fingerplay that goes along with that?

Group:
Five little monkeys swinging in a tree, ___ Mr. Alligator can’t catch me.  You can’t catch me.  Along came Mr. Alligator with his mouth open wide and snap that monkey from out of that tree.

F:
Tie in your literacy.

F:
And we did numbers.

F:
They’re helping use their numbers.

F:
Three.

F:
Four and five [LAUGHTER].

F:
The giraffe [OVERLAPPING COMMENTS] and they can put it in order.

F:
And we did…

[INAUDIBLE COMMENTS]

F:
No, that was a sorting game.

F:
Sorting game.

F:
So, they sorted bugs, snakes.  Then we have snakes [OVERLAPPING COMMENTS].  And then they have little snakes and what else?  You have the big snakes, and then we have sorting gummy bears with the colors.  And then…

F:
__ song for that.

F:
But you could create a song for the lions, couldn’t you?  One little, two little, three little lions.  Four little, five little, six little lions.  All of the little, little lions lying in the cave.  Or you [OVERLAPPING COMMENTS] [APPLAUSE].  But you can create your own song.  You are not limited.  Let’s give them a big hand [APPLAUSE].  Okay.  Our next group did our three-dimensional art with the world, the big—everybody say, “It’s a big, big world.”

Group:
It’s a big, big world!

F:
Isn’t that beautiful?

Group:
Yes.

F:
All right.  And we will—tell us what you use.

F:
We used construction paper, tissue paper, and we used everybody’s hands [ph].

F:
Isn’t that neat?  You see your—and when you go to the zoo, I want you to look at the different animals.  Every animal has a different design on his body, and that is their signature, just like your handprints are your unique way of showing who you are, the spots and the designs on the animals are the same.  Go also to the northcarolinazoo.org website, and they have some excellent resources for you that you can use.  Okay.  Let’s give them a great big round of applause [APPLAUSE].  And then let’s come back to our last group.

M:
Oh, yeah.  We—we had animals, and we did sort of like a guessing game.

F:
You have to guess.

F:
A wolf?

F:
Fox.

F:
Dog.

M:
Close.

F:
A dog?

M:

F:
