Read Books
Hines:
The teachers now get an opportunity to explore the books. Participants select a book or two books, review the books, and then think of ways to incorporate it into a lesson plan. Then, the participants share their ideas about the books to the large group. Again, each participant is provided two books, given an opportunity to share the books with the group and even given an opportunity to look at a book list. More book titles are included also in your Big, Big World curriculum guide.
F:
We have two minutes to look at the book before you do an evaluation and go back downstairs. Okay. So, what I’m going to do is pass out the book in your groups, and you can just look at those books and think of ways to use that book in your classroom.

And you have the __ that is in your ___ a different book that you can use to go along with Big, Big World.

There is also episodes to go with different parts of your lesson. So, you can look over your curriculum [OVERLAPPING COMMENTS]. After you read the book, then you can tie the book into your theme. So, there might be an episode on your DVD that is going to go along with your book.
F:
This book right here can go with ____.
F:
And, because our time is sort of short right now, I gave also each—did you like the book, first of all?
Group:
Yes.
F:
Do you think that would be a great book to use in your classroom?
Group:
Yes.
F:
Okay. Now, those are display books, but I do have books for each one of you to take home with you.
F:
Wow.
F:
The book is—one book is called Winter Lullaby. This is a beautiful book. The colors in this book are fantastic. So, this is one of your books you get to take home, and the very [APPLAUSE] another book for your classroom. And Mouse Paint is what I’m going to leave for the center—no, we have three classrooms here. I did good. So, one per class—one per classroom. Mouse Paint just ties in with your art.
