Hines:
The teachers received other helpful resources for their classroom, such as It’s a Big, Big World DVD and posters. Many teachers made floor puzzles from the Big, Big World posters and created memory card games from them. North Carolina Zoo websites and resources were made available to the teachers. Barney’s Watch, Play and Learn: An Activity Guide for Parents and Childcare Providers, was also made available to the teachers. And the PBS Families Magazine, for parents and care givers, number 17, “Active Kids,” which is published by WGBH Educational Foundation. Other materials they received was information from West Africa.
F:
Hold your poster up __ while we are passing out the evaluation. There is a poster underneath all of that stuff. Here is your poster.
F:
Where is it at?
M:
We don’t have them back here.
F:
Everybody didn’t get your poster, It’s a Big, Big World poster? Oh, okay, we’ll get you one ___, a box out there in the hallway probably. But here is your It’s a Big, Big World poster, and there is activities with this poster in Spanish and English on the back. So, I’m sorry, here is your poster. This talks about the importance of keeping the earth clean. So, if you are doing recycling, you can use the poster for that. But then, on the back, there is activities in Spanish and English, that they tell you how you can make a bird feeder using bagels. And, because I know you guys love to make cards [ph], here is a great little game that you can use, that you can either use this just to label things that you want to recycle or to remind yourself to recycle, or you can recreate them. And I made my own cards. What I did is I put stickers on my card, so that I could make it a memory game for the students. And this is also in Spanish and English. So, you get to do the same thing. And you’ll see in front of you, you have some stickers. So, everybody will get a page of stickers to take home with you. Or you can use any sticker that you want. Well, that is the end of what we can do with It’s a Big, Big World right now. But, like I said, this is a three hour workshop. I condensed it for one hour, but if you want me to come back and do the other two hours, we’ll do the other two hours. Okay. All right. Let’s give yourselves a big hand [APPLAUSE]. And to finalize, you also have in front of you these little masks. So, I want everybody to put a mask on ____.
