Jay Jay the Jet Plane follows the adventures an energetic and playful six-year-old jet plane named "Jay Jay." Children 2 to 6 years old expand their imaginations while learning a variety of life's lessons.

Educational goals for the program include:

• To teach preschoolers about life's lessons like sharing, cooperation, making friends, and problem solving
• To educate kids about science, nature, health and nutrition
• To employ fantasy, adventure, music, humor and 3-D animation to bring Tarrytown and the joys of childhood discovery to life
• To engage young children with music from the show, which will help improve their cognitive learning skills
• To make children aware of the fun of exploring new places, new people and new experiences

The program mirrors numerous traits found in preschool children. In the affective domain qualities such as curiosity, creativity, independence and interactive with others are presented. The cognitive domain qualities presented include memory, counting hierarchical organization, and identification of selected elements of science and nature.
