How To Use Television Effectively

Your classroom television utilization will become more effective if you incorporate some of these suggested steps.

  1. Establish A Focus for viewing before playing the program. Describe to your students what specific information or details they are about to see. Give them instructions about what points they are to watch for in the segment. Have them record their responses.

  2. Collect The Students' Responses to the program in a post-viewing discussion. This will allow you to clarify details and check for comprehension. Use the blackboard to write some of them.

  3. Integrate The Program into curriculum by designing suitable follow-up activities. Draw upon duo-sensory experiences of students watching and listening.

  4. Interrupt every 7 minutes with a comment or question.

  5. Actively Put Your Energy Into Viewing And Listening.
