Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):

My name is Wanda Leckell Hildreth. I was born in Albequerque, New Mexico and my family moved here in 1974 where we have maintained a residence since. I have been married to Robert for the last twenty two years and I am a mother of two teenage girls. I live in Lilesville, North Carolina. I graduated from King's Business College in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1983. I have been employed at Hornwood Inc. for the last 18 1/2 years. I was a Girl Scout leader for 7 years and I tutored 5th graders at Lilesville Elementary School for several years. Presently I am the President of the Parent Leadership Team at Anson New Technology High School. I enjoy camping, fishing, and watching soccer games.

Candidate Statement:

I am running for Anson Schools' Board of Education because I feel we need more parents to get involved with the Schools in Anson County. I would like to be a part of the team that makes the decisions for all of the children in Anson County. I think that the School Board needs more parents that are not affiliated with the actual school business. We have teacher spouses and parents on the board but we also need community members that have children in the school system. I would like to see more parents get involved. The thoughts of regular community members are a crucial part of making decisions. It takes all of us to raise these children, and we all would like to be heard. We all need to be a team. "All Means All". I would like to see our community grow with these children and to see all of these children become successful in all of their endeavors. We, as a community, we need to strive to make sure that everyone has our children's best interests first and foremost.
