Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
My name is Chris Measmer. I was born in Cabarrus County and have lived here all of my life. I graduated from Central Cabarrus High School, and continued my education at George Washington University in Washington DC with a degree in political science and history.
My interest in politics started early. I held a high school internship with Robin Hayes' district congressional office during his 2004 election. I gained experience that led me to work in his DC congressional office in Washington during my college years. I was very politically active in college, holding an internship at the US Capitol while in DC.
I believe that one of my strengths is my work ethic. My father started his own business, Wayside Family Restaurant, when I was 5. I have always been involved in his restaurants, from standing on a crate to wash dishes when I was 7 to becoming a manager in high school and finally coming home after graduating from college to slowly step into my father's role. I have learned invaluable lessons throughout the years about working with others, managing employees and balancing a budget. I am confident that these skills will help me to excel as one of your County Commissioners.
Also during my time at George Washington, I was able to spend a semester abroad in Florence, Italy. While traveling abroad, I learned what it really means to be an American. We are so fortunate to live in this country. I would like to do my part to ensure that citizen's voices are always heard and that this country is the best that it can be. I believe that running for County Commissioner will enable me to do this for myself, and for you, the citizens of Cabarrus County.

| Candidate Statement:
I am a young conservative Republican committed to a limited government, modest spending, and the values of a traditional family. I believe that increased government intervention into the daily lives of American citizens leads to fewer personal choices by the people. Uncontrolled spending practiced by federal, state, and local governments has increased the debt burden for future generations. Representatives need to be actively working to decrease debt, and to find a solution to keep the burden at a minimum.
I also believe that the break down of traditional family values has decreased the obligation of society to raise children to be well mannered and respectful. Many societal problems that we face today stem from the downfall of family structure and failing to provide children with the support that they need and deserve.
Due to recent liberal policies that are unfavorable with a majority of American citizens, we must try to become involved and regain trust in our government. My decision to run for a seat on the Cabarrus County Commission Board is my way to be involved on a local level, and to do my part to bring conservative and sensible government to the people of our county.
