He has recently completed the inaugural class of the Associations Leadership Initiative and has represented the Cabarrus District at meetings of the National Association of Conservation Districts on six different occasions.

Candidate Statement:

Since being elected as Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor in 2002, I have seen many transitions, challenges and opportunities.

The transition of Cabarrus in the recent years from an agriculturally dominate community to one with increasing suburban influence charges us with the challenge to educate land owners from both aspects of the value of protecting our precious natural resources. This has provided the opportunity for the Cabarrus District to expand its already present role as an integral part in developing the local community conservation effort to compliment agricultural cost share that has been the flagship assistance program of the local agricultural community.

If elected, I look forward to continuing to serve in my current capacity of doing my part to conserve our natural resources as well as to advance the responsible growth of our community.
