I have lived in Burke County since 1964. Married to former Georgia Cates of Burke County for 47 years. Two sons, Bryan aged 36 and Chris aged 32.
Former teacher, Morganton High – two years, Western Piedmont Community College – 12 years – member of the charter faculty.
 Education A.A. – Campbell College; B.S., M.A., Ed S, Appalachian State University; Ed D Southeastern University.
Former Burke County Commissioner – seven years

I feel that the people of Burke County feel somewhat slighted in the fact that there has not been a Democrat elected who has resided in this county in over 30 years. Having been a Burke County Commissioner for seven years – two as chairman- I have a pretty good handle for local government which would be an asset while serving as an N.C. Senator.
