| Candidate Statement:
District A citizens deserve a Town Council member who listens to them, works for them and values their participation. As Chair of the Cary Issue Advisory Groups Task Force, I have proven my commitment to citizen involvement. I have served on the Planning and Zoning Board, Site Design Guidelines Committee and president of my HOA. I will apply this wealth of experience to improve Cary by:
- Putting public safety first. We must fully fund and support our police, fire and emergency medical services to remain one of the America's safest towns. Public safety is no place for politics.
- Listening to you and truly serving as your voice at the council table.
- Advocating for responsible growth. I will insist that roads and schools are in place before development occurs.
- Engaging, involving and valuing all of the citizens of our community.
- Protecting our environment. Cary's environmental track record is good, but we must do better. We must protect Jordan Lake, our drinking water supply, by limiting development in the lake's watershed. Buffers must be respected and open space protected.
- Driving innovative use of technology to improve town services. Cary, the "Technology Town of NC", should be a leader in eGovernment. As a technology professional who served as Chair of the Wake County Information Technology Advisory Committee and Secretary of the National Cyber Security Alliance, I know we can do better. Cary residents expect their government to strive for the most effective and efficient processes available.
Cary citizens have had the same top concerns -- growth, roads and schools -- for the past 10 years. After 10 years, it's time that District A citizens have a representative who listens to them and works for them. I ask for your vote on October 6th.
