Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
Catawba County business leader Lynn Lail filed to run for a third term to the Board of Commissioners. She currently serves as vice chair for the commissioners.
"I have spent much of my life working to create jobs and economic opportunities for our citizens. It is more challenging today than ever before, but we must remain focused on providing a competitive environment for our existing businesses while working to attract new industries," Lail stated. "Unfortunately, the current direction of our federal and state government directly conflicts with our ability to begin true economic recovery. Less, not more government is part of the solution and I will continue to fight those leaders who choose to grow government over creating new and real jobs for our county and our state."
Lynn, a native of Catawba County, is President of Piedmont Designs of Hickory. She and her husband, Leroy, are active business leaders who were named co-business leaders of the year by Lenoir Rhyne University in 2000.
As a member of the Hickory-Conover Tourism Development Authority she has actively promoted travel and tourism for Catawba County.
She is a member of the Board of Trustees of Lenoir Rhyne University, the Wachovia Advisory Board, and on the Board of Directors of Palliative Care and Hospice of Catawba Valley.
The Lails are members of Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton. They have been married 48 years and have three children, Scott, Brad and Laura, all reside in Catawba County.

| Candidate Statement:
I am seeking another term on the Catawba County Board of Commissioners.
The past 4 years have been challenging for Catawba County as we all suffered from an economy hit by overwhelming job losses. The county has not been immune to this having to cut budgets and personnel.
The next four years will continue to be challenging and I believe Catawba County deserves experienced commissioners who have proven they are fiscally conservative.
My career has been built in private business using common sense solutions to solve problems. I am committed to Catawba County and its citizens and I have served in many community organizations in a leadership role.
I will continue to work for Catawba County and its citizens as we face the challenges of the next 4 years.
- Lynn
