Candidate Statement:

There are many challenges in education today including the lack of funding, drop out rate, student growth, the graduation rate, and facility construction. I believe that one of the greatest challenges facing education is teaching students the necessary skills for careers that have yet to be created due to the rapid advances in technology.

The board of education needs members who can think with an open mind, who listen to all opinions, who are well read, and who research and study current issues facing education. If given another term, I will continue to strive to be that kind of board member. I appreciate the opportunity to serve the students and citizens of Catawba County.
