| Candidate Statement:
I believe that there are a number of things that Clay County Government needs to address to make Clay County a county that all of its citizens can be proud of. We are a small county in the western most part of the state, but we have beautiful mountains, lakes and streams and a bounty of recreation to satisfy the hikers, boaters, hunters, fishermen, golfers, sightseers, shoppers and yes, the loafers too. County government needs to work closely with the Clay County Chamber and local businesses to promote these valuable assets.
In the present economy of today, Clay County's Government needs to continue to work toward bringing more jobs to the county as well as help to promote growth in the county. One way of accomplishing this is to continue to expand the county's infrastructure including making high speed internet available county wide. We need to strive to maintain a low tax rate for our citizens including a revamp of the way our county evaluations are done.
Our school system is growing by leaps and bounds and we must start planning now to build a new elementary school and cafeteria to help alleviate the overcrowding that the school is presently experiencing. Final decisions as to the funding of the school project should be left to the county's voters.
My grandchildren give me the best reason to run for Clay County Commissioner. I would love to see them be able to live, work and raise their children (my future great grandchildren) in Clay County.
I would appreciate your vote for Clay County Commissioner and in return I will do my best to serve you the citizens of Clay County to the best of my ability.
