Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):

I have lived here for over 30 years, with my wife, Linda, where we have raised our family, Zach, Amber and Ian. All of my children were born and raised in Clay County, attended and graduated from Hayesville High.

Over the years I have been a frequent Volunteer for our Community. I am a member of CCCRA, Served on the board of the Chamber of Commerce and was President in 2004. I was named Volunteer of the Year (2009) by the Clay County Historical and Arts Council, for work at the Nelson Heritage Park involving the Cherokee Exhibits. I operated the Sound system at Truett Baptist Church for over 5 years, taught Sunday school for many years and also coached Tee-Ball. I am also on the Executive Committee of the Friends of the Historic Courthouse

Candidate Statement:

I believe we need Common Sense, HOW? By allowing the Citizens to vote on important issues such as:

  • The New Courthouse and other Buildings
  • The Alcohol Referendum (without having to get petitions)
  • Any expenditure over one million dollars

I believe that we need to have better Communication between the government and the people of this County. I promise to always be accessible.

I have been a Licensed Building Contractor since 1972. That means I have been operating the Same business for over 38 years. I believe I can offer my experience as a long time Resident and Businessman to Serve this County as a Good Steward.
