Candidate Biography (submitted by campaign):

Representative William Brisson was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2006. A Dublin native, his community services and political experiences have given him the opportunity to serve the residents of Bladen and Cumberland counties. Representative Brisson served as a County Commissioner and as the Chairman for the Bladen County Board of Commissioners. He was also a Chairman on the Bladen County Hospital Board of Trustees and as Vice Chair of the Bladen Medical Association. Representative Brisson also served on the N.C. Association of County Commissioners Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Agriculture Steering Committee for the N.C. Association of County Commissioners. While serving on this Board, he received the M.H. “Jack” Brock Outstanding County Commissioner Award. Representative Brisson is also the Secretary and Treasurer for the Bladen County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

His lifestyle and career as a farmer run parallel to his Vice-Chairmanship on the Agriculture Committee. Representative Brisson is also the Vice-Chair for the House Committee on Mental Health Reform and he serves on various other committees that include the Wildlife Resources Committee and the Environment and Natural Resources Committee.

As a Representative, he has voiced his concerns in the areas of education, agriculture, Medicaid and small businesses. Representative Brisson pushes hard to increase funding for the schools within his district while also decreasing the size of the classrooms. Representative Brisson works to improve the communication between government officials and farmers throughout the state of North Carolina.

Along with his wife, Brenda, of 42 years, he finds pleasure in volunteering for non-profit organizations while also spending time with his family: son, Alan, daughter-in-law, Angela and his granddaughter, Autumn.
