| Candidate Statement:
If I am elected by the voters of Forsyth County as county commissioner at large, I will continue to support the conservative principles which I upheld during my past tenure as county commissioner. I believe that the best policies begin with support of less government intrusion in our lives and businesses. Next, commissioners must carefully review the budgets of county offices and the school district against any wasteful spending. And, elected officials must do everything possible to create in Forsyth County the most business friendly atmosphere so our current businesses will expand and new companies locate in our area. That's because creating new jobs is a top priority.
In our county, nearly 70% of all jobs in the private sector are created by small business owners. That's why county commissioner should do everything possible to review current regulations and look for ways to ease the regulatory burden during these tough times of recession.
County commissioners have key fiscal oversight responsibility over the sheriff’s department and all that is also under the jurisdiction of the county board of education. Even though commissioners deal mainly with fiscal aspects and not policy aspects of these divisions, it is important that commissioners balance the fiscal concerns of taxpayers along with the educational needs of students and teachers. The same goes for what's necessary to operate the sheriff's department whose utmost responsibility is the safety of our citizens.
Finally, you will find that I am the strongest of advocates for individual freedoms and property rights and feel that no government entity has the right to intrude on the freedoms of individual citizens when it comes to these important principles.
