Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):

I am a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a graduate of North Forsyth High School and Winston-Salem University. I have also served as a public school administrator, and served my community in several volunteer positions. It is for these reasons that I have decided that I can be of better service by representing the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School Board District #1.

As a member of the Forsyth County School Board, I Pledge:

To provide each student a sound basic education that will prepare them through technology to meet the demands for college and a skilled workforce; to hold each school accountable for every student achievement; and to decrease the student drop-out rate and increase the student graduation rate.

I believe in parent-friendly schools and competitive salaries for effective teachers and administrators. I believe the battle against education disparity is winnable.

I have decided to take this challenge for the following reasons:

• I enjoy public service
• I would welcome the challenge of finding solutions to those problems we face
• I believe I could provide the leadership that will make our school system number 1 in the State.

It would be a great privilege to serve as the Forsyth County School Board Member representing District #1. I will devote my full time and energy to help produce a better future for everyone in our community.
