Candidate Statement:

Dear Greenville Voter:

My first term as Mayor has passed quickly and I want to say what a great honor it is to serve this fine city. Greenville is a great city. I am seeking your support for my re-election.

I am proud to say that in the midst of these challenging economic times some very positive things have been accomplished.

  • The City Council and our city employees have all worked together to deliver all the city's services.
  • We have received over $6 million in stimulus monies.
  • In March of this year Forbes Magazine ranked us 2nd in the nation among small metros for business and careers.
  • Progress in revitalization in both downtown and in West Greenville has continued.
  • Initiatives to strengthen neighborhoods have been established.
  • We have several additions to our recreation and parks programs.
  • Several improvements to transportation needs have been made.

Making our city a safer place to live and work has been our number one goal.  This effort must continue.  Like many cities of our size, we will continue to be challenged. Fourteen additional police officers have been added and a Police Sub-Station on West 5th St opened last September. Several million dollars of technology has been added to aid law enforcement.  In addition more neighborhoods are starting Community Watch Programs.  But clearly we must all continue to do more and work together with law enforcement and other community initiatives to create greater safety throughout our entire community.

In closing I want to thank you for your interest in our city.  I hope I can count on you for your support in my re-election campaign.

Sincerely,

Patricia (Pat) C. Dunn
Mayor
