Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):
I am married and have two beautiful daughters and six wonderful grand kids. I served in the United States Marine Corp and received a honorable discharge as a non-commissioned officer. I have two degrees, numerous schools and have taught law enforcement classes at the college level.
I serve on the North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Standards Board, was appointed to the North Carolina State Emergency Response Commission by the Governor. I serve on many local boards for non-profits and am active in my community in many different civic organizations.
I began my career in law enforcement in 1973 and feel there is no greater profession in the world. I serve with some of the best men and women in law enforcement and have provide Guilford Co. a Sheriff's Office that is second to none, well respected and would like to continue serving our citizens.

| Candidate Statement:
I have served as Guilford County Sheriff since 1994. As sheriff we have reduced response times by 46% according to the NC Dept. of Justice. We rank in the top 14% of communities in North Carolina with the lowest crime index stats according to the 2009 Uniform Crime Report.
We have reduced response times from over 19 minutes to less then 10 on average. We have been selected as the best large agency in the state, twice and given awards of excellence by the National Association of County Organizations.
The Guilford Co. Sheriff's Office is used as a model by law enforcement agencies across the nation and have been featured on television, radio and the print media as a sheriff's office the people of Guilford Co. can be proud of. I welcome anyone to look at our website, where you will see how innovative and respected this sheriff's office is. I have degrees in Juvenile and Criminal Justice and serve on numerous boards at the state and local level.
I believe there is no finer profession then that of law enforcement and I proudly serve the folks of Guilford Co. and hope they will allow me to continue my service to them and the rest of the community.
