| Candidate Statement:
Since retiring in 2003 from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, I have missed the opportunity to work in a job that can make a difference in people's lives and make this county a safer place to live. I think illegal drugs have overtaken Guilford County and the Sheriff's Office needs to do more in getting the criminal activity such as drugs, drugs dealers, and gangs out of Guilford County. I think the Sheriff's Office should be in touch with the citizens and become more involved with the community. I am a conservative democrat and I believe that the Sheriff's Office should be more accountable for every penny spent.
I think we need a new leadership and approach in law enforcement in Guilford County. I have over thirty years experience in law enforcement. I know to be a good leader people must trust you in what you say and do. I have lived in Guilford County for 35 years and I have been loyal to the citizens of the state and to this county.
I think that the Sheriff Office should have a program in the middle school to focus on drugs and other criminal activity. Since there's no Dare Program in Guilford County, the Sheriff should help with saving young people from going into criminal activity.
