Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):

I seek to be re-elected another four years as a Supervisor in the Guilford County Soil and Water District, primarily to further water quality in our County. I am a Biological Science and Agricultural Engineer, graduating first from Iowa State University and later from NC State with a Master's degree. I am also a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina and three other states.

My original career was with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. I worked as a conservation engineer throughout the nation in the areas of erosion control, water quality, and animal waste management.

After retiring I worked as an Adjunct Professor at NC A&T State University, teaching soil and water engineering, wetland management, and other courses. At the present time I work part-time in constructed wetlands research.

Representing NC A&T University, I presently serve on the Technical Review Committee of the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources. This committee develops water quality best management practices and sets their cost share rates.

Candidate Statement:

As a Soil and Water Supervisor, I with the other Supervisors primarily work with farmers in our District to establish priorities for cost share funds for water quality and approve contracts using these funds.

If I am re-elected I will continue the effort to improve water quality in Guilford County.
