Candidate Statement:

I am a native of High Point - a city I deeply love. I am very concerned about the future of our city, and in particular our efforts to bring new jobs and improved quality of life to High Point. I have a vision for High Point's future that I believe you share, and a plan to put that vision into motion:

  • Comprehensive Economic Development - I want High Point to aggressively and creatively recruit new companies, support the growth of existing businesses, and develop new "home grown" ventures, and I want them to sink roots here and become "corporate citizens" that support our charities, arts and cultural community.
  • Improved Quality of Life - I want High Point to have all the things other cities our size have: the shopping, the parks, the events, and the interesting gathering places where civic life and culture can grow and thrive.
  • Minimize Bureaucratic Impediments - I want a government that understands that what is good for business in High Point is good for the people of High Point. Fewer impediments to business growth. Lower taxes and fees on existing and new and expanding businesses. Streamlined approvals.
  • Protect Taxpayers Money - I will focus on the proper role of local government as a means of evaluating spending programs and not waste taxpayer's money.

I want High Point to be a city that my children will be proud to return to and call home. I have the courage make hard decisions and tackle challenging issues. Throughout our history, concerned citizens and business owners have sacrificed for High Point's future. The time has come for new leadership to assume their place. We must have the courage to chart a new path. I would be honored to have your support and to be your new Mayor.
