| Candidate Statement:
As a father of four children, I have a vested interest in the Johnston County Public Schools in ensuring that the school system provides the highest quality of education. I believe that all students need to be challenged, and it is important that we continue to provide the extra programs that will keep our students motivated and engaged in school.
Nearly every year the Board of Education threatens to eliminate these programs, such as the AIG Program, Early and Middle College Program, middle school athletics, vocational education programs, etc. While the Board looks at cutting programs and teachers from our classrooms, they never look at cutting the wasteful spending from the top heavy Central Offices. Instead they create new positions that are internally filled by principals and assistant principals who have very little experience or qualifications to fulfill their job duties.
Through conservative leadership and fiscal responsibility, I will eliminate the current wasteful spending practices and ensure that our classrooms are fully funded.
