Candidate Biography (submitted by candidate):

Born in Raleigh, and having lived in every region of North Carolina, Dave Tuttle is a longtime resident of Johnston County. The veteran of a quarter of a century in radio broadcasting, Dave has performed in the role of on-air talent from deejay to talk show host, while also serving in every capacity from sales to station management.

Known for two decades as "Mr. Titanic," the 47 year student and now expert on the RMS Titanic speaks annually in the schools, teaching history and social studies using the famous ship as the focal point. He and Joan, his wife of 25 years, live in the Emit/Corinth Holders community of Johnston County.

Candidate Statement:

I've served on our Board of Education before, from 1994 to 1998.  I have a full grasp on the issues and challenges faced by our system.  In my former term, I met my campaign goal of abolishing the folly of outcome-based education from our system.

I was also part of the disposal of all of our deteriorating 3-story brick facilities, air conditioning of every classroom in the county, and making school board elections non-partisan for the first time. I also played a major role in putting in place the elective course "The Bible as Literature and History" in all of our high schools.

I've identified new dangers and issues in the last few years, including inappropriate "indoctrination" of our children, and am ready to serve our communities once again to set things right.
