| Candidate Statement:
I am Gerry Mouzon, candidate for the Office of Sheriff in Johnston County! With more than 26 years of law enforcement experience, I have served the citizens of North Carolina with great pride and professionalism. As a citizen of Johnston County, I have many of the same concerns as you. We have all witnessed the increase in gangs and drugs in our communities and schools, the tragic deaths of teenagers on our highways, and the rise of violent crimes in our county.
I cannot promise to eliminate every crime or to prevent every tragedy. To do that would be to claim a power far greater than I possess. But, I know that if we pretend we can do nothing, the problems will only get worse. My many years of public service, my commitment to law enforcement excellence, and my education and training, have taught me the importance of providing quality leadership and the positive affect it has on an organization, and the citizens they serve. Under my leadership, the Johnston County Sheriff's Office will:
- Maintain an ongoing dialog with the citizens about their concerns,
- Provide transparency and accountability to all of my constituents,
- Take a proactive approach to promote community safety, and
- Promote professional standards and training.
With this election, we have a choice between taking a proactive approach that involves the community working with law enforcement to deal with these problems, or we can maintain the status quo, which has chosen to ignore or pretendthese problems do not exist. It is important to understand that this campaign is about serving the community and how we will work together towards the goal of making Johnston County a safer place to live, raise a family, and operate a business.
So, when voting begins, please vote "Mouzon" for Johnston County Sheriff!
And please remember, "Take a child with you to vote"!
